For years I’ve offered you inspiration, information and insights. However, they’re useless if not applied and practiced. Let’s get practical today.
The knowledge/information available in the world is multiplying at a dizzying pace. However, the vast majority of humans operate in ignorance about any particular subject, as if the data were not readily available. Puzzles and problems go unsolved, despite the abundance of solutions.
Do you have a problem? Seek a solution? You must have heard the expression: There is an app for that. It is very often true. Let’s get practical and share our best solutions with each other. Look on your smartphone and choose the most beloved app, based on its ability to solve a problem or deliver value. You may just help someone simplify life, save time, boost productivity or in other ways, add value to the daily journey.
QUESTION:
Have you found a smartphone app that makes things better for you in some way? If so, someone else may also benefit and deeply appreciate your sharing it. How?
1. Look through the apps on your smartphone and select one or two that you would simply not want to do without or lose. Exclude the popular, obvious ones such as Facebook, Google, Twitter, Whatsapp, Etc. And please…no games! Instead, look for the hidden gems you’ve discovered.

a. PROBLEM/NEED: I am giving a presentation and want my phone to stay on and show me the timer so that I can pace myself and know how much time I have left. The Android does not make it easy. The screen goes blank/turns off in just a few minutes, even when I use the built in setting to prevent it.
b. APP & WHY: “No Screen Off” is an app that fixes it! It is so simple! If there are times when you want your phone screen simply to stay on, No Screen Off makes it possible with just one click!
a. PROBLEM/NEED: Very often, I lie down with my phone and try to read the screen in portrait/straight-up mode. I make sure and turn off screen rotation, but some apps force the screen to rotate to landscape mode/turn sideways anyway. This has been very irritating.
b. APP & WHY: “Control Screen Orientation” is an app that is extremely easy to use and allows me to lock the screen in any direction, even upside down—something my phone wasn’t able to do before. Now, I can sit at 45 degrees in my recliner, lie down flat or stand up and lock the screen to any position I want! Life is simpler now. Lol.
THE PROBLEM: There are so many good articles that I come across on a daily basis that I may not have time to read at the moment I see them.
THE APP & WHY: Pocket (getpocket.com). This can be used as a mobile app or from the PC browse. It allows me to save articles for viewing later. On the mobile app, I can share to pocket from almost any app. The best part is that it syncs across all devices once you login.
a. PROBLEM/NEED: Keeping track of financial responsibilities while saving the rest of the world.
b. THE APP: Mint is secure & helps track & account for EVERYTHING in one place right from your phone. My household & business financial goals & responsibilities are managed smoothly without sacrificing my superhero status.
