Mount Pleasant, Portland—Mr. Miller toiled for three years buying blocks this week, cement and boards next month…working relentlessly on floors, walls and ceiling. Finally, it was Tuesday afternoon on the 21st and his task was done. With a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, he sat on the back doorstep of the beautiful new home, built by his hands, and imagined the joys of moving in with his family tomorrow, Wednesday morning. He died on that doorstep. Tomorrow never came.

Do not wait for the end of the dream to begin enjoying the dream. All last year, you struggled with the job, the bills, the family—the issues of life—sometimes scratching and clawing to get ahead. Hit restart. Enjoy the ride; the end of the journey is just the end. Even the difficulties along the way constitute a purpose for which to live.

Live. Live today, right in the middle of the concern, crisis or chaos. To wait until the problems disappear is to wait to live. Our idealistic tomorrow is today. Happy New Year!

QUESTION:

Everyone seems to be saying to enjoy the journey, not the destination. However, doesn’t that risk producing a generation of people who never see things through to the end, constantly starting and never finishing?
