It was 2:00 a.m. I was in the front yard, looking up into the sky. What I saw was deep and life changing. There were two massive bales of clouds, shining white in the brilliance of the three-quarter moon that hung directly over my head. A few hundred stars with silver light punctuated the deep blue skies. Yes, even at the bottom of the night, the blueness of the sky was still discernible.

I marveled. Everything was working just fine; just as it’s supposed to work; just as it has worked for millions of years. The silver light from the stars hit my eyes after traveling through time and space at 186,000,000 miles per second, and taking many light YEARS to reach me! I struggled to imagine the distance. I was awestruck by the immensity of the skies and the system in place that makes it all work together. The clouds were hanging there without a string. Every star was in its perfect place. This little man felt tiny and insignificant, like an ant on the earth, gazing up into the face of the universe.

Even more mind-boggling was the realization that beyond my eyesight, deep into the outer reaches of space, a whole world of heavenly bodies moves, rotates and interacts in synchronous harmony. Orchestrated perfection reigns in nature. There is no shortage of oil for the lamp of heaven to shine; no depletion in the battery of interplanetary force and motion; no limit of space to fit the myriad bodies that move and swirl. The moon has never crashed into the earth. The sun has never gone out by accident. The orbits of planets have never gotten confused by random chance.

Here is the epiphany I experienced: I contemplated the plight of mankind, living on the earth in scarcity, troubles and fears multiplied. In that moment, it all seemed meaningless. There is no need to be overburdened with the details of life. Everything is working perfectly as it should. The earth and its little people are but a small—no, a miniscule percentage of the total realm of space. Everything else is on target in nature; everything else operates in perfect harmony. Why would earth be any different? Even the hurricane and earthquake are a part of the highly ordered scheme of nature. Yes, we see destruction, but is it possible that what we see as destruction is merely the earth in renewal? Accidents do not happen, only cause and effect do. Perfection reigns.

No, we the little people of planet earth are not perfect, but we are limitless in our creativity, imagination and our dreams. Any yet, the grand total of all our creative ideas, imaginative schemes and our fondest dreams—places only a tiny demand on the resources of nature. God’s universe is infinitely rich and well supplied—far beyond our reckoning.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m., as I considered the works of God’s fingers, my financial stress disappeared; worry about my business became meaningless; concerns about relationship problems were totally nullified; and fear about the future melted into the present moment of total power—total possibility. Even after the feeble attempt to describe it on this page, the gentle power of that moment is still indescribable. Rather than giving me a feeling of complacent satisfaction, it made my mind flood with possibilities—just from being alive, I can achieve, attain, obtain and become anything that can fit into the scope of my imagination—for the borders of my thinking are the only limits nature knows.

But how does this help me with the day to day challenges such as bills, time pressures and adverse circumstances? Ironically, one such challenge came my way, exactly one day after this revelation of power. This was a serious personal problem that would normally have produced visceral tumult, mental torture and led me to make destructive responses. But instead, at the moment of the challenge, I looked again into the heavens and reminded myself that everything was working just fine, as it should. This realization calmed my nerves, obliterated my fears and gave me a cool, calm head to deal with the problem logically and analytically.

What do I wish for you in the upcoming new year? It is the gentle power to accept what is, and expand your imagination to shape what will be. It is the realization that what you seek is abundantly available, and 6.5 billion people together could not exhaust its supply. It is the knowledge—no, the experience—of God’s unfailing hand signaling to you everyday, that just by awakening you from sleep, He has given you unmeasured power to achieve, attain, obtain and become anything you fervently desire. It is the power to move mountains when necessary, so that nothing blocks your view of the starlight that travels for years, just to illuminate your way.

Your problems will not simply go away with this awareness of celestial power. No, but the awareness of it gives you the ability to handle ANY difficulty, trouble or catastrophe you may encounter in your life journey. When last did you look up and remind yourself that everything is perfectly in order, including your successes and failures; including your present and future? Adopt the perspective that you need not worry, fret or fear. You have been given power to help shape the future as you will, and that’s the perfect order of how things should be. Without stress or strain in this upcoming year, rise up and meet the future with confidence and certainty.
